Where are those sections of highway? I think I need to visit Nevada. :-)
But seriously, I concur with most of what has been said about the Savage. It is most comfortable on local rides in my opinion. I know some people do take trips on their Savages, but if I'm going to be on the bike for any long periods of time, I prefer to be on a larger bike that will keep me more comfortable and run highway speeds at lower RPM's. I think the seat, grips, and pegs positions are pretty good. I'm about 5'11" and am not cramped on this bike. Is it a reliable bike? Well, I have an '87 and besides a carb adjustment once, all it's needed has been regular maintenance (oil changes, etc.) I do have some oil stains on the engine that I want to fix someday, but they are minor. So, if it suits your type of riding, I have no problem recommending the Savage. It also amazes me that I'm still running the original belt and have never once had a problem with it.
